And now for Easy Pleats!

Its DT  Sandie  here and I have a Tutorial on Easy Pleats to share using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers

This is my third step by step colouring tutorial here, so we have now done skin tones, short hair and now we're onto Pleats (I will put the links to the previous two at the end of this post)

So here we go...on the same image as our last tutorial we will now do a quick easy technique for pleats!  We will use a 3 colour blend, not too fussy so no stressing lol

Start by laying down your darkest shade (mine is BGR3) along all of the pleat lines on your image.
Top Tip: look at how the clothing is drawn and spot which side would be the inside pleat; I have marked a couple of such areas with arrows

Next, take the middle colour tone (in this case BGR2) and start to pull the dark colour out a little but still leave the areas that are obviously in the light

a closer look at the middle tone to give you an idea of where I've shaded

And now the lightest in the colour tones (BGR1) and blend out the previously coloured lines BUT still leave a thin line of white in some places!

And then...back to the beginning!

Repeat step 1, the darkest colour.

The best way to think about it is that the first run around is the foundations and will soak into the paper a little and we loose a little of their definition.

and then BGR2;  you can now see how the colours are deeper and more true to colour

And then out lightest colour to finish.  You will see that I have still left little areas of white showing through which helps to show the movement of the skirt.

I will put together a full card with this image to finish the set soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and I'll pop up again soon

hugs, Sandie xxx
